About Commercial Solar EV

One site about one idea: solar generation and EV charging belong in the same design, the same grid application and the same business case.

Why the combination needs its own specialists

Solar installers size arrays to buildings. Charging installers count sockets. Neither discipline, practised alone, answers the question fleet and facilities managers actually face: what does this site's energy system look like with vehicles in it? The combined answer involves generation modelling, parking-schedule analysis, dynamic load management, one carefully-sequenced DNO engagement and a grant application — and getting it wrong in either direction is expensive. This site documents how the combined projects are done properly: the business case, the engineering, the regulations, the WCS grant and the depot-scale playbook.

How we work

Data first, hardware last. Every project starts with a combined desk feasibility built from twelve months of half-hourly meter data, your vehicle or staff-charging expectations and the site address: array sizing, socket plan, load-management approach, grid headroom read, grant eligibility and the whole-system cash flow, delivered in writing within seven working days. No site visit is needed for that first pass and nobody telephones you uninvited — the process is form-first from the quote page onwards. If the combined numbers don't clear your hurdle rate, the feasibility says so plainly, and sometimes it recommends solar-only or charging-only where that is honestly the better project.

Delivery standards

Installation is delivered by MCS-certified solar teams and OZEV-authorised chargepoint installers, with NICEIC-registered electrical contractors and insurance-backed workmanship warranties across both systems. Specification defaults that protect you for the asset's life: OCPP-compliant chargers only, dynamic load management with intake metering, solar-following configuration proven at commissioning, and a witnessed demonstration that the site holds under its supply ceiling with every socket active. Handover includes the as-built pack and a dashboard reporting the three numbers that matter monthly: solar share of vehicle energy, building self-consumption, and pence per mile by vehicle.

What we won't tell you

That solar makes fleet charging free — it doesn't; it makes it 30–60% solar on daytime-dwell fleets and decisively cheaper either way. That nameplate charger ratings require a supply upgrade — they almost never do once load management is designed in. That V2G revenue is bankable today — our V2G page gives the honest 2026 position. The numbers on this site are maintained against delivered-project pricing and current scheme rules, and corrections are welcome.
