How This Site Is Researched and Run

Commercial Solar EV is an independent information site about combining solar PV with EV charging on business premises. This page sets out who runs it, where its figures come from, how enquiries are handled and how to report an error.

Who runs it

The site is operated by SEO Dons Ltd, a UK company (Company No. 16766013, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ) that publishes specialist information websites. SEO Dons Ltd is not an installer, electrical contractor or energy supplier, and this site holds no installer accreditations. Where pages mention MCS certification, OZEV authorisation or NICEIC registration, they are describing what you should check an installer for — not credentials we hold.

Where the figures come from

We prefer primary sources and name them on the page: GOV.UK and HMRC for grants, tax and regulations; legislation.gov.uk for the statutes themselves; DESNZ statistics for energy prices and solar installation costs; the EU Joint Research Centre's PVGIS tool for solar yields; Energy Networks Association documents for grid connection rules; and named industry datasets, such as the Zapmap Price Index, for public charging prices. Each figure carries the date it refers to.

Where a page shows our own arithmetic — a pence-per-kWh cost of solar electricity, a payback period — it shows the inputs, and any input that is an assumption rather than a published figure is labelled as one so you can replace it with your own quote or meter data. We do not publish invented case studies, testimonials, reviews or installation counts.

How often pages are checked

Grant rates, tax deadlines and energy prices change. The pages that quote them are re-checked when a source changes, and the date a page's figures were last checked is shown near its sources. Two dates matter across the site at the moment: the Workplace Charging Scheme closes to applications on 31 March 2027, and the 100% first-year allowance for chargepoints ends on 31 March 2027 for companies.

How enquiries are handled

If you complete a form, the details are sent to SEO Dons Ltd through Formspree, a form-processing service. We use them to reply to you and, where the enquiry needs an installer or specialist to respond, we may pass them on for that purpose only. The privacy notice explains what is collected and your rights. The free feasibility offered on the site is a desk-based first pass built from the information you give us; it is not a quotation for installation.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to other websites, including government sources, industry bodies and businesses that install solar or chargepoints. A link is not an endorsement or a recommendation of an installer; check any business you are considering against the MCS and OZEV registers and ask for evidence of comparable work.

Corrections

If a figure on this site is wrong or out of date, email info@commercialsolarev.co.uk with the page and the source that disagrees. Corrections are made to the page and the checked date updated. For the substance, start with the main guide or the business case.

Free combined feasibility

Get combined solar + EV charging figures for your site

Tell us about the site and the vehicles. The reply is a written desk feasibility — array size, charger plan, grid headroom, grant and tax position — within 7 working days, from twelve months of meter data if you have it. No site visit is needed for that first pass.

Why we ask: the site type, charging scale and postcode are what set the array yield, the charger mix and the grant rules — without them any figure is generic. Commercial Solar EV is an independent information site operated by SEO Dons Ltd; it is not an installer. If a project goes ahead we can introduce an installer, with your permission.
